Berlin Graphic Days

Lovers of graphic arts should head down to Urban Spree at Revaler Str this week, with the third annual Berlin Graphic Days taking place until Sunday. Showcasing the best of illustration, screenprinting, live-art performances and street art – there’s something for everyone.

Attendees are presented with a wide range of different mediums, ranging from the stunning illustrative work of Andreas Preis to the beautifully layered screenprinting installation of Matthias Gephart.

There’s not just static installations though. Each evening features live art performances from the likes of Jim Avignon, Lake and artists from the Urban Art Clash collective, all set to the sound of live DJs throughout the evening.

One of the highlights is happening tonight (Wed 22nd), with the Boards without Borders charity auctioning off some beautifully designed boards to support their work in India, which is aiming to use skateboarding as a tool of youth empowerment.

Throughout the event the Urban Spree shop has moved to the ground floor, offering a wide selection of graphic design books, illustrations and prints for sale. There’s also the bar that offers a pretty standard selection, although with the addition of Berliner Winter – a rather awesome hot apple juice/vodka combo which is perfect as the temperature drops to around -5 °C outside.

Rounding off the week is the Berlin Graphic Days Market on Saturday and Sunday, featuring over 60 artists exhibiting and selling their work, as well as the Berlin Graphic Days party which kicks off at 10pm Saturday night.

The full rundown of this week’s events can be found on the Urban Spree blog, featuring all the artists, exhibitors and DJs you can check out this week.
